Laura Myles is a young photographer who has launched into her career only this year. She studied at Stills Gallery in Scotland to gain more knowledge and understanding of what it takes to become a photographic artist.
“While experimenting with my camera in Europe in 2010, my movement or “dance” with my camera brought beautiful stained glass windows and candles to life. The technique that I discovered has been the focus of my work ever since. Although I don’t subscribe to any particular religion, the spirituality which I felt while shooting in these spaces was undeniable. Bringing these subjects to life has brought joy, not only to me, but also to those who have seen and acquired my work.”
Although this is only her first year as a practicing artistic photographer, she has had great success with the six exhibitions which she has had so far. Please note that none of her images have been edited in any way.
The piece donated for auction ‘The Dance of Light’ was shot at L’Abbaye Saint Sauver, in Redon, France. This work was featured in Laura’s debut exhibition in February 2011, and subsequently selected for the Salon pages of the February 2011 edition of Trouble magazine. ‘The Dance of Light Part II’, formed part of the Castlemaine Fringe Festival 2011.
