Chewton Pool Inc is very excited by the support we are receiving from business to restore and prepare the pool for its opening as a community pool on Saturday 3 December.
Today the finishing touches are applied to the preparation for THE BIG POUR. The new concourse and pathways are being poured from 7.30am this Saturday morning and it’s a matter of ALL HANDS ON DECK!
Businesses have supplied materials, transport, supervision and labour at no cost. Volunteer teams are in harness for the big event. Midway Minimix, Phil Mawson Concreting, Ausform Pty Ltd, T & E Bell Excavations, Symes Transport, David Anderson, Tonks Hardware, Saw & Core are some of the many businesses who have stepped in to support Chewton Pool Inc achieve a transformation of the facility.
Tony Shaw, President of Chewton Pool Inc. has put in many hours on site with a dedicated band of workers.
“The support is magnificent. People have arrived at the pool and offered help freely. Some businesses have now entered sponsorship partnering with us, others have chosen specific donations.”
“The day begins with Fritz’s Big Breakfast and then the concrete arrives at 7.30am.
“This work completes the immediate requirements for repair of the scum gutters, reticulation system renewal and a new concourse that is compliant with current requirements. Then it is the painting, paving, furniture and turf to finalise facilities for the swim season.”
Schools in the area are involved in the pool art competition to design a painting for the wader pool floor and while the kids are busy, the adults are looking
to the Monster More than Art Auction on Sunday 27 November with superb artworks and entertainment by Rod Quantock and Mood Swing.
This frenzy of activity culminates on Saturday 3 December, when local MP Maree Edwards will officially open the pool at the “Everything Old is New Again” themed event.
