Tait Decorative Iron are a local company set up by Catherine and Neil Tait, who in 2005 were Winners of Mt Alexander Business of the year in Manufacturing and Industry. They are designers and manufacturers of quality wrought iron garden furniture, pergolas, wood fired ovens, interior products, staircases and sculptures.
Both are artists in their own right: Neil with an amazing range of wrought iron work, and Catherine with painting and, more recently, bronze sculpture.
Catherine is a established artist and has won numerous awards for her paintings, but five years ago she was approached to do sculptures for a company. Although she had never applied herself to this medium before she instantly fell in love with the lost wax and bronze method. She has recently been exploring the sculptured female figure and has won best sculpture at the Castlemaine Rotary Art show 2008 and Sutton grange 2010. She is a exhibiting member of the Victorian Sculpture Society.
The piece donated to the Auction is a three legged Rose Pillar – perfect for a climbing rose or vine. More of both Catherine’s and Neil’s work and that of their business can be seen on their website: decorativeiron.com.au
