Barry Singleton and his family moved to Castlemaine in 1967. Barry was head of the Art Department at Castlemaine Technical College and Castlemaine Secondary College. He retired in 1993 and has been involved in being a probation officer, coaching Wesley Hill U/15s Football Team in the early ‘70s, and a Committee member of Regional Castlemaine Art Gallery.
Barry has been a practicing potter from 1970. He enjoys working in both stoneware and porcelain clays, and has studied ceramics in Japan extensively, and lectured in Tokyo and in Nanjing.
He is currently preparing for Survey Exhibition 1970 to 2013 at the Castlemaine Art Gallery as part of the upcoming State Festival.
Barry’s work is represented in public and private collections and he has exhibited widely throughout Australia and overseas. His work can be seen at Herons Gallery (Castlemaine), Salt Gallery (Queenscliff), Skepsi Gallery (Melbourne), and at his own gallery in Castlemaine (by appointment).
