Sarah Gabriel draws inspiration from nature and her experience being part of it.
Her drawings capture the ‘energy’ and ‘spirit’ of her environment in the country, through her distinctive line work and use of pigmented inks.
Her original works on paper are created from her regionally based working studio in Kyneton, Central Victoria.
Sarah also prints limited edition dry-point etchings, draws and paints.
Sarah has a long term connection to Kyneton. Her grandparents met each other in Hepburn Springs when they were in their 20’s. Sarah’s father moved to Kyneton many years ago and the family joined him not long afterwards. Drawn to a property in Lauriston they fell in love with an old walnut tree at the front gate.
“The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way.
Some see nature all ridicule and deformity, and some scarcely see nature at all.
But to the eyes of the man of imagination, nature is imagination itself.”
– William Blake
Sarah exhibits at her own Lauriston Press Gallery in Kyneton and a number of galleries across Victoria and displays her work on her website: http://www.sarahgabriel.com.au
