Peter Kingston was born in Sydney in 1943 and lives at Lavender Bay. He is a contemporary Sydney painter, printmaker and cartoonist who was first known as a Pop artist in the 1970s, with involvement in film making, pop cartoons, Oz Magazine, the Yellow House and Luna Park.
He is best known for his paintings featuring scenes of Sydney Harbour and ferries, however has had extensive involvement in ecological causes and preserving threatened historical buildings, including Luna Park, May Gibb’s home at ‘Nutcote’ and recreating the Yellow House.
He lived for some time in Melbourne completing a series of etchings, some of which are included in the Auction.
He has consistently exhibited in both solo and group exhibitions throughout his career of over 40 years. and lives in Lavender Bay, Sydney.
His work is held in various public collections including the NGA, state and regional galleries and internationally.
