This week’s highlights at Chewton Pool –
Two of Chewton Pool’s staff members, Tracie Bush and Jasmine Samson, presented to the full assembly of the Castlemaine Seconday College student body, about the opportunities available at Chewton Pool for volunteer work and casual Summer lifeguarding.
As a result, more than 30 students have expressed an interest. We will follow up with assessing each student’s interest and find a role in the many activities associated with running a community pool, such as planning and staging events, kiosk duties, lifeguarding, media and communications, fundraising and practical projects to improve the facilities. Many of these activities go on during the off-season, so you can be guaranteed there is a job that suits.
We look forward to an injection of energy from these young people who understand the value of working in the community.
We are also thrilled to have been shortlisted for a Regional Achievement and Community Award. We hope to hear good news in September as the judging proceeds. These awards are a great recognition for all the hard work our community puts in to make every Summer a fun place in Chewton.
Two of our management committee attended the Scientist to Dinner event at Chewton Primary School, where astronomer Professor Orsola De Marco from Macquarie University talked about astrophysics, her week at Chewton Primary and shared a delicious dinner with us.
What a great community we live in!
