Sunny Season’s Opening

Phil Debbie HallA glorious sunny Saturday provided just the right atmosphere for the season’s opening of Chewton Pool on 29th November.    Phil and Debbie Hall took up the challenge and came suitably Pool Opening 040decked out in festive fruity attire.  MC Phil introduced Councillor Tony Cordy who with a genuinely supportive speech, declared the pool open.  Tony, seen here with Phil, Jenny Jarman and Jacki Heath, was representing Mayor Christine Henderson who was unable to attend.

Children immediately took to the water and commandeered the various floaties in the shape of dolphins, balls, and sunbeds.Pool Opening 051

The weather was superbly warm, the water pristinely clear and inviting, and the BBQ and Kiosk well patronised.ToddlersPool 2Toddler 1

Visitors came from far and wide to enjoy the day, with one young mum and baby having travelled up from Melbourne after seeing our website on the net.

It was lovely seeing some little folk discovering the water for the very first time.

Pool Opening 056Many families attended and enjoyed the relaxing surrounds, and there was a healthy sale of Season Tickets (approximately 50 sold in the first few days).

So, roll on summer – its going to be a beaut season.

Hot Day – Cool Pool (and B-B-Q)

Chewton Pool’s success and popularity has been well proven over the last week.  We have had record attendances on these hot summer days, with 225 on Sunday 1st January, and over 200 on many days since.

In fact attendance for the season so far, revealed at the evening Committee Meeting on Monday 12th, stated that the number of swimmers for December was 993, and for just the first week of January it was 630.  Thats a total of 1,623 and that doesn’t include the 240 onlookers that attended over the period.  The demographic for our clientele has been very wide ranging – with singles, couples and families from all ages.

On these high temperature days the pool hours are extended from noon to 8.00 pm instead of the usual 2-6 on weekdays.  So when the temperature soars grab the family and swim gear and cruise on down to our community COOL POOL.

Also, on every HOT SATURDAY the pool will set up a B-B-Q from 6.30pm.

Newcomers are welcome, and check out the great value for money Season Tickets which are selling well.
