It was such a glorious autumn day on Saturday 28th April for our Thankyou BBQ . The trees glowed with autumn colours, the grass was a lush green and children had fun in the fallen leaves. About 30 staff, volunteers and supporters managed to attend, and the BBQ spread was excellent with Gourmet Sausages, beef sausages, chicken shazlicks and Rose Darling’s fabulous Lentil Burgers (recipe in next article). We had a traditional salad, potato salad and delicious coleslaw and many other culinary delights. Bravo to those who contributed to this scrumptious feast.
Tony Shaw spoke about the wonderful work everyone had contributed to our most successful first year of independent operations, and presented two Certificates of Appreciation – one to James Darling for maintaining the water quality so beautifully, and the other to Dot Bush who brilliantly managed the busy pool Kiosk.
For those supporters and volunteers unable to attend we send a warm heartfelt thank you for all your help through the season, and we are sorry you couldn’t attend.
And to everyone a loud invitation to stay involved in the future. There are still many chores to be done over the winter in maintenance and preparing for the next season, and we need to train some more people in “Pool Operation Level 1” to assist James in maintaining water quality. James was at the pool early every morning over last summer to attend to the pumps and ensure the right chemical balance provided good quality water. Next season we’d like to see him share the load with more people, so if you are over 18 and are willing to learn please contact us by email. Its a handy qualification to have for the future, and we’d love to have you on board.
